An evidence-led record of Southeast Asia’s tech ecosystem
Atlas by Digital Districts is an open directory of startups, unicorns, exits, investors, accelerators, coworking spaces and ecosystem organizations across the region, placed on a map and organised by a consistent geographic taxonomy.
Methodology
- 01Every entry is source-linked. An entity is not published unless at least one verifiable reference — a company registry, press release, regulator filing, reputable news report or the organisation’s own site — is recorded with its publisher and access date.
- 02Community submissions are reviewed. Anyone can propose a new entry or a correction. Proposals enter a queue and are checked against their sources by an editor before they are accepted, edited or declined with a note.
- 03Status is recorded, not inferred. Entities are marked active, acquired, closed or unknown. Exits carry a short exit detail. Where evidence is inconclusive, the status is left as unknown.
- 04The data is exportable. Any filtered view can be downloaded as CSV, and filter state is encoded in the URL so views can be cited and shared.
Six-tier geographic taxonomy
Locations are expressed as a path. Empty tiers are omitted from display.
T0RegionAlways “Southeast Asia”. The map’s outer boundary.
T1CountryOne of the eleven Southeast Asian countries.
T2StateMalaysia uses its states and federal territories; elsewhere this holds the province or region.
T3CityThe municipality where the entity is headquartered or operates.
T4DistrictA named district within the city. Optional.
T5PrecinctA planned precinct, park or zone within the district. Optional.
T6ClusterA building, campus or block-level grouping. Optional.
